Metal Braces

Traditional Metal Braces

Our traditional metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel used to straighten teeth. These are the most common type of braces, and they provide the option of color choice to enhance your style. With advanced brackets and wiring, they are more comfortable now than ever before. With the Victory Series™, the low-profile brackets provide a non-invasive and comfortable fit. They work just as effectively as full-size brackets, which is why they are so beneficial. You can achieve the same results without the discomfort and bulk of traditional braces.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are much less noticeable than metal braces. They are used mainly for teenagers and adult patients who want a more visually pleasing treatment. Although they require more oral hygiene attention, they may be more expensive and can discolor.

When Should Orthodontic Treatment Start?

Early Treatment

We recommend that children see an orthodontist as early as age seven because we can determine what type of treatment your child needs. There are two phases in early treatment, one begins around age eight or nine, and two begins around age eleven or older.

Typically, baby teeth are all lost by age 13, and the jawbones stop growing. Early treatment helps to make room for permanent teeth to come in properly, lessening the chance of extractions, correcting jaw growth, and fixing possible bite problems. Planning for your child’s oral health now can help save you money and save their smile later in life.

The purpose of two-phase treatment is to address tooth straightening and physical facial changes. It maximizes the opportunity to accomplish the ideal healthy, functional, esthetic result that will remain stable throughout your life.

Phase 1

  • Jaw development
  • Avoid future tooth extraction
  • Monitor teeth progress

Phase 2

  • Proper teeth development
  • Execution of phase 1 plan
  • Braces

Teen Treatment

Braces may seem like a scary concept to a high-schooler, but thanks to today’s advanced technology, the process can be seamless. We provide various styles, materials, and colors to make life with braces much more comfortable and easier.

Depending on how quickly your body reacts to the treatment and if you’ve had early orthodontic consultations, we can determine your treatment length. Whether you are interested in traditional metal braces or ceramic, invisible, or lingual braces, you have the power to choose your orthodontic journey.

Adult Treatment

Many adults choose to partake in orthodontic treatment to enhance their smile, fix oral functioning, minimize jaw discomfort, and more. Because metal braces were the only option in the past, many adults have refused orthodontic treatment. However, thanks to ceramic braces, lingual braces, and Invisalign, they can achieve the smile they’ve always wanted without sacrificing their appearance.

At our office, we recognize that adults and children require different orthodontic treatment. For adults, straighter teeth can minimize the chances of gum disease and other oral issues. We are well equipped and experienced to deliver the different levels of attention and care. We will work with you to ensure that you receive the most appropriate treatments and that your needs are met with understanding and respect from us.

Dentofacial Orthopedics

Dentofacial orthopedics is a special process intended to normalize bone structure growth and repair imbalances in the face and jaw. Typically, it is a two-phase treatment that begins when the patient is around seven or eight years old.

Specializing in dentofacial orthopedics is earned by orthodontists who have received their orthodontic specialization in dental school and have completed a two or three-year orthodontic residency program.

For Children

Your orthodontist will examine your child’s growth to determine when treatment will be most effective. During phase-one, your orthodontist will work to correct your child’s jaw growth and ensure that the jaw bone is properly aligned. After this, the second phase of treatment can begin, which usually involves braces to straighten the teeth.

For Adults

Dentofacial orthopedics in adults may involve surgery because the bones are no longer growing, and their jawbones have hardened. Surgery can adjust the jaw bone and properly establish the bite alignment before beginning orthodontic treatment. With dentofacial orthopedics, adults can still achieve the beautiful smile they’ve always wanted.
